“Custom song” covers three quite different products. Knowing which one you are buying explains most of the differences in price and speed you will see between companies.

None of these is automatically “better.” A human-artist song suits someone who wants a particular singer’s voice and has the budget and time. An instant generator suits a joke or a quick card. How it works at Storied Song, step by step

1. Choose who the song is for

The order form starts with one question: who is this song for? Partner, wife, husband, mom, dad, both parents, a friend, a child — and the occasion, whether that is an anniversary, a birthday, a wedding or a memorial.

2. Pick a style (or let us match one)

There are 17 genres to choose from, including pop, country, R&B, acoustic, hip-hop, Latin, gospel, jazz, rock and lullaby. If you can’t decide, choose “Not sure — you choose” and the style is matched to your story. You can hear samples in every genre before you order.

3. Tell the story

This is the part that decides how personal the song feels. You don’t need to be a writer; plain sentences work. The most useful briefs include:

• Names and nicknames — and how to say them if the spelling is unusual (write it phonetically).
• Two or three specific memories — a place, a day, something that happened, not a general quality.
• A phrase they always say, or an inside joke only the two of you would recognise.
• How the song should feel — tender, celebratory, funny, quietly grateful.

4. Choose delivery and checkout

Pick Standard ($99, within 4–5 business days) or Rush ($179, within 36 hours). Rush orders placed after 6:00 PM Eastern may begin the next business day. Optional add-ons:

• Lyric Sheet — $19: a formatted, printable PDF of the lyrics.
• Instrumental Version — $28: the backing track without vocals.
• Spotify & Apple Music distribution — $44: puts the song on streaming services (how that works).

Payment is processed securely by Stripe, and you get a confirmation email once the order is accepted.

5. The song is created

Storied Song uses AI music tools in the songwriting and production process to turn your story into a personalized song. Your details shape the lyrics, the structure and the production — which is why specific details matter more than anything else you choose. As with any AI-assisted creative work, results can vary, so the free revision exists to get the song where it needs to be.

6. Delivery

The finished song arrives as a high-quality MP3 at the email address you used at checkout. If it hasn’t arrived by the deadline, check your spam or promotions folder first, then email [email protected].

7. Request a revision if something is off

Every order includes one free revision. Reply to your delivery email within 14 days with clear, specific feedback, for example:

• change the genre from acoustic to country;
• the tone is too sad — make it more celebratory;
• add the detail about the lake house I forgot to include;
• the name pronunciation is off — here is how to say it.

The revised song is delivered within the same timeframe as your original order. Revisions cover lyrics, style, tone and mood; a completely new song concept may be treated as a new order. Refund conditions are set out in the refund policy.

Planning backwards from your date

• Two weeks or more away: Standard delivery, with time left for a revision if you need one.
• Two days to a week away: Rush delivery, within 36 hours.

What you can and can’t expect

• It is original. Each song is generated for your order from your details — not pulled from a library of pre-written songs. Because it is AI-generated, similar phrasing can occasionally appear across different songs.
• “In the style of” means the feel, not the voice. Naming an artist helps set the sound; the song won’t copy an existing song or imitate a specific singer’s voice.
• The brief sets the ceiling. A song can only be as specific as the details it is given.
• The license is personal. You can play it for anyone, share it on personal social accounts and use it in personal videos. Commercial use needs a separate license.
